RICHARD COOK

Photographing Richard Cook in his studio to trace the relationship between artist, place, and practice. The space bears the marks of years of painting: surfaces layered with colour, brushes worn by repetition, and canvases moving between loose sketch and resolved work. The photographs sought to capture not only the finished paintings, but the gestures and rhythms that bring them into being—the paint caught beneath his fingertips, the shifting light across the studio, and the atmosphere that continues to shape his work in Newlyn.
