EMILY NIXON
Based in West Penwith, Emily Nixon’s jewellery practice is deeply connected to the landscape and materials of Cornwall. Working across metal and stone, her pieces draw on the forms, colours and textures found in the natural world, with an approach to making that feels both instinctive and highly considered. Her work has developed over many years, alongside her wider practice as an artist and curator.
In 2026, Emily Nixon completed the renovation of their new headquarters on Morrab Road, Penzance. The Edwardian building has been carefully restored and developed into a showroom, meeting spaces, workshop and office for the design and making of their jewellery. The interior combines the building’s Edwardian and Victorian heritage with references to museums and natural history archives, alongside considered elements of contemporary and Brutalist design.
For this project, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the headquarters throughout the day, rather than simply document the space. Working with natural light, I explored the relationship between the historic character of the building, the practical elements of the workshop and the quieter details of everyday life within it. Tools, materials, jewellery and works in progress naturally became part of the story, offering an insight into the process of making and the people behind the finished pieces.
